Bank Rakyat keen to open 10 branches
Bank Rakyat Malaysia's branches may reach 134 with the opening of new branches.
Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat) plans to open 10 more branches nationwide this year, Ahmad Kidzbullah Ridzuan, General Manager of Branch Operations, said on Monday.
Ridzuan said three of the branches will be in Petra Jaya, Limbang and Serian in Sarawak, another three in Putatan, Semporna and Kota Marudu in Sabah, and the remaining four in Kuala Nerang in Kedah, Bentong and Bera in Pahang, and Kerteh in Terengganu.
This year, Bank Rakyat has opened two new branches, located in Section 23, Shah Alam, and Tanjung Karang, Selangor, he told reporters at the opening of the bank's latest branch in Jalan Pinang.
Currently, Bank Rakyat has 124 branches with more than 400 automated teller machines (ATMs) and cash deposit machines as well as Ar-Rahnu X'Change Islamic pawnbroking branches nationwide.
In the Jalan Pinang branch, Ahmad Kidzbullah said the bank had allocated RM497,000 ($154,180) for the outlet which was previously known as the Angkasa Raya branch.
