Citibank launches Citibank Rewards Card in the Philippines

Cardholders will be entitled to 5% rebate at partner boutiques among other exclusive deals.

The country’s largest foreign bank is introducing a new credit card, aimed at capturing the growing market keen on instant gratification offers.

The Citibank Rewards Card, the latest addition to Citibank’s credit card portfolio, will offer year round exclusive offers to cardholders with qualified spend. Three of its benefits that are expected to attract consumers include free movie passes, shopping rebates and annual fee waivers.

Citibank pioneered the Rewards program for credit cards in the early 1990s, which provides gifts and other incentives to cardholders with every spend.

“Now, as the trend shifts more and more towards instant rewards and the market becomes highly competitive, we are bringing out this new card with one-of-a-kind features that offer not just promotions but rewards you can continuously enjoy throughout the year,” said Bea Tan, Credit Payment Products Head.

Cardholders get a free P100 movie pass for a minimum single-receipt purchase of P2,500 anywhere, including online and international transactions. They are also entitled to a generous 5% rebate whenever they shop at Citibank partner merchants including Aldo, Aldo Accessories, Celio, Charles & Keith, Giordano, Marks & Spencer, Nike Park, Pedro, Runnr, Toby’s, Topshop, Topman, Urban Athletics and Zara.

The card offers 3% rebates at The Landmark Department Store, Metro Department Store, Rustan’s Department Store and SM Department Store. It also includes a 1% rebate for all other department stores. Cardmembers can use the rebates in denominations of P100 to pay for their next purchase at the participating shops and department stores. And to make sure the rewards never end, these rebates do not expire.

The Citibank Rewards Card also waives annual fees for primary cardholders who spend at least P20,000 per month, or P240,000 within their year of membership. Supplementary cardmembers can also enjoy waived fees – the first three get waivers when they each make at least six purchases every membership year.

The Citibank Rewards Card is targeted to young professionals who regularly allocate budget for shopping and factor in recreation into their lifestyle, such as watching movies.

With the new card, Citibank has made it easier for cardholders to redeem movie passes as they no longer have to collect and present charge slips. The P100 movie passes are credited to their accounts three business days after the purchase and are valid for 30 days.
