MAS-Maybank's debit card promotion grows significantly

Malaysia Airlines and Maybank's partnership to promote debit card use for online air ticket purchases grew 195 per cent in billings and 145 per cent in Maybank debit transactions.

 

This was achieved over a three-month campaign period.

In a joint statement here today, Maybank's Executive Vice President Cards and Unsecured Lending, B. Ravintharan said the growth in debit card use for e-commerce, augurs well for greater use of debit cards for travel and holidays.

"This support has contributed to an increase of over 300 per cent in the total number of e-commerce transactions for Maybank last year, compared to previously," he added.

The joint-promotion between MAS and Maybank was aimed at increasing the awareness and usage of the Maybankard Visa Debit and MasterCard Platinum Debit for online purchases of air tickets on MAS' website.

Meanwhile, MAS Senior Vice President E-Commerce, Serena Ho said the joint campaign with Maybank, has successfully promoted the convenience of both online purchase and a cashless form of payment on its website.
