NTUC FairPrice awarded for innovative in-store digital checkout

FairPrice app offers seamless cardless omni-channel grocery shopping.

Largest grocery retailer NTUC FairPrice Group is committed to building an omni-channel retail ecosystem in Singapore. With its latest campaign slogan “Your Groceries, Your Way”, the company is dedicated to creating a delightful and diversified shopping experience for its customers.

NTUC FairPrice aims to simplify the in-store shopping experience for customers through the seamless integration of its FairPrice app into shopping.

Customers who shop at stores are now able to go cardless at a total of 190 NTUC FairPrice and Unity stores islandwide by accessing the FairPrice app on their phones.

The app, which was initially used for online delivery and in-store Scan & Go orders, can now be used for making payments and collecting or spending the loyalty points and LinkPoints at physical stores.

The app also empowers its customers with the convenience of tracking their transactions and checking balances of their reward points and savings in real-time.

The convenience has contributed to NTUC FairPrice’s technology achieving strong and positive retention and repeat rate during deployment at 80% of users pay through the FairPrice app, twice or more per month.

For this innovation in shopping, NTUC FairPrice received the “Singapore User Experience of the Year – Retail” award in the recently concluded Asian Experience Awards hosted by Asian Business Review.

The awards programme recognises the ingenious initiatives of creative companies delivering meaningful brand experiences to their stakeholders in all industries in Asia.

To promote this new feature, the company showcased the product through local celebrity Irene Ang as the voice and face of the Digital Checkout campaign.

Dressed as a cheeky cashier auntie that Singaporeans can identify with, she dispenses advice on how one can shop more conveniently and stretch their dollar through LinkPoints with the            FairPrice App.

Using the app is easy and straightforward. To access the Digital Checkout with FairPrice App, users need only to select the payment icon upon launching the app.

Once the user lands on the Payment QR Code page, the customer’s phone brightness will automatically increase to make it easier for the staff or machine to recognise the QR Code. Security measures are also in place to ensure the QR code cannot be misused. Upon processing, a digital receipt will be delivered to the app and be archived for easy access - providing greater convenience for customers to track their transactions and LinkPoints, while also making it friendlier for the environment.
