IBM in the Philippines transforms ways of working and engages workforce by amplifying the employee voice

This is amidst a cultural shift in the workplace and a big change in employee needs.

The past two years marked a major transformation in the way of working amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Like most organisations, this also resulted in a shift in the workplace culture for IBM. As employees’ ways of working have changed, their needs have changed as well.

IBM aims to address the question of effectively engaging employees in the new normal, as well as how to do it differently and better than everyone else.

IBM recognises that building an engaged workforce is not a one-size-fits-all tactic. It understands the importance of meaningful employee listening—making use of internal tools and external platforms to collect and analyse data that can help identify potential workforce issues, trends, and opportunities. IBM believes that its employees' voices matter and is the foundation for a culture of growth. This mutually beneficial dialogue between employer and employee is how IBM is able to understand the true pulse of its workforce.

As one of the leading and innovative tech companies worldwide, it combines its modern digital tech stack and forward-thinking people strategy to move ahead of the curve, effectively engaging talent through meaningful and best-in-class people programmes.

Through employee listening, the company has transformed employee experience in the areas of talent engagement, careers and skills, diversity and inclusion, corporate health and safety, use of technology, and overall ways of working. This has resulted in positive scores in all of the dimensions in the company’s Employee Engagement Index.

Referencing the satisfactory baseline, IBM in the Philippines was 9.5 points more favourable in the engagement index and 10.2 points higher in the inclusion index. IBM was recently named one of the world’s top 3 best employers this year by Forbes. Moreover, the likelihood of recommending IBM was even higher in the Philippines when compared to the company’s global rating.

These efforts have been recognised by the Asian Experience Awards 2022, as IBM Philippines takes home the Philippines Employee Experience of the Year - Technology award. The prestigious awards programme aims to highlight the ingenious initiatives of creative companies delivering meaningful brand experiences to their stakeholders.
