NTT DATA Inc. bags the Digital Experience and Employee Experience of the Year awards

Their initiative to transform using a cloud-first strategy and deliver its employees innovative workspaces makes them one of the stand-out award winners this year.

The Asian Experience Awards 2023 Singapore Digital Experience of the Year - Technology and Singapore Employee Experience of the Year - Technology trophies are both awarded to NTT DATA, for its initiative of using a cloud-based strategy and providing its people with a much more innovative workplace amidst the problems encountered during the pandemic.

The Asian Experience Awards is open to all companies from different industries and the winner will be chosen by the panel of judges according to a set of criteria that includes the following: Background, Uniqueness and Innovation, Effectiveness, Impact, and Dynamism.

When the pandemic started in the first quarter of 2020 and remote work was implemented, NTT DATA came up with a plan to migrate all the workloads to a cloud-first strategy. 

NTT DATA partnered with Microsoft and the teams focused on designing and implementing a standardised and consistent Azure platform across its global operations. This involved migrating over 25,000 servers, over 2,200 applications hosted in 50 data centers, and over 1,500 hyperscaler cloud-based subscriptions globally. 

This cloud-first transformation allowed the company to provide an innovative workplace for their employees in the Asia Pacific and Singapore offices located in Aperia. To cope with the changes arising due to the pandemic, a hybrid work set-up was introduced.

Through the combination of a cloud-first approach with Microsoft Azure and the implementation of an intelligent network with Cisco, they provided a more innovative and flexible workplace. The new workplace gave employees the flexibility to choose where they work within the office based on the type of work they were doing. The digital workplace solution provides management with key insights into capacity and space utilisation. They also implemented self-serve booking systems for meeting rooms and utilised technology to monitor and manage consumption effectively.

The outcome delivered a more friendly workplace for NTT Data’s staff. Adding new technology within the premises that will help them monitor health metrics such as the quality of air in the area and ambient lighting that creates a pleasant work environment. The technology combines seamlessly with other office features such as cycling stations where employees can stay fit during their work day.

Through this innovative transformation in their workplace, NTT DATA has seen a notable increase in employee satisfaction with the alterations made to their workspace environment. According to their employee satisfaction survey, an impressive 92% of their workforce expressed satisfaction with these changes. As a result, NTT DATA has achieved cost savings by reducing electronic waste, minimising relocation expenses, and decommissioning devices. Additionally, they realised a 30% reduction in operational expenditure with the successful migration to Azure cloud.
