Abu Dhabi Customs wins Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2024

Its project introduces a new concept in government interaction with businesses.

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs was honoured with the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2024 title in the Automation - Government category for its Invisible Customs project that has reduced red tape and time-consuming touchpoints in the customs operations, and has integrated with express couriers.

The platform provides dynamic and seamless automation between Abu Dhabi Customs and express couriers, where both share data, information, and process transactions in a fast and accurate manner. This has saved transaction time from an average of 20 minutes per transaction to a minute, leading to a higher customer satisfaction rate.

With the Invisible Customs project, Abu Dhabi Customs aims to save costs through the reduction of employee hours involved in the creation and handling of paper documents, as well as the cost of storage space. It also aims to improve business cycle speed and efficiency by forwarding documents through a computer network.

At the same time, the initiative aims to increase accuracy by ensuring direct and easily verifiable communication, and enhance security by making sure information is less susceptible to interception and falsification.

Invisible Customs has allowed the government entity to achieve big improvement in performance as a result of learning best practices, and express couriers to attain time reduction and lower human intervention.

The Middle East Technology Excellence Awards honours pioneers of technological innovation in the region, having significantly contributed to the pursuit of excellence within the industry.
