foodpanda Taiwan wins at Asian Experience Awards 2024

The food and grocery delivery company was honoured for its benefit programmes and working policies that support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DE&I) culture and work environment.

foodpanda Taiwan emerged as the awardee for the Taiwan Employee Experience of the Year - Internet/New Media category at the Asian Experience Awards 2024, earning the award for prioritising a high-performance organisation and an engaging experience for its employees.

Commitment to dynamic, inclusive workplace

foodpanda Taiwan demonstrates its dedication to supporting the diverse needs of its employees by undertaking significant initiatives aimed at enhancing its work culture and benefits.

For instance, the company completed a major office relocation and renovation project in October 2023, with a design that better serves its employees. The new office features a variety of engaging work areas, brainstorming spaces, a modern canteen, workout and sports facilities, a nursery room, and massage services. This comprehensive renovation has successfully addressed the needs of its workforce and resulted in a notable 19-point improvement in the company’s environment eNPS (employee Net Promoter Score) score.

foodpanda Taiwan also introduced several enhanced leave programmes in January 2024, which recognise the importance of work-life balance.

As a leading food delivery and grocery platform, the company operates in a fast-paced environment that demands both high performance and personal well-being. To support the employees in achieving this balance, it rolled out paid leave benefits including maternity leave, which offers 12 weeks more than the statutory requirement under Taiwan labour law; fertility leave, which is a pioneering benefit in the Taiwan labour market aimed at supporting employees through fertility treatments; and family care leave which seeks to help employees in caring for family members. Other leaves are the four-week paternity leave, which has 12 additional days compared to the legal requirement; personal leave which includes six Panda leaves and 1 birthday leave to enhance personal time off; and mental and physical health leave for general recharge and promotion of overall well-being.

To foster a culture of DE&I, the company also hosted a DE&I Celebration Week from 17 June 17 to 21 June 2024. This event featured a series of activities including DE&I workshops, a roadshow of DE&I books, a redesigned social area, and a DE&I engagement party. These are all aimed at increasing understanding and promoting actionable DE&I practices within the organisation. foodpanda Taiwan recorded strong participation amongst its employees, with the overall participation rate exceeding 30%.

Promoting mental and physical health, flexibility in work arrangments

foodpanda Taiwan also started offering services that address the mental and physical health of its employees. It provides company-paid mental consultancy through a third-party service, and offers on-site consultations with occupational doctors and nurses.

Aside from this, the company also hosts health promotion public lectures, which are available for employees for free. In 2023, its 24-hour services catered to 178 employees, whilst in the first half of 2024, its 7-hour services supported 76 employees.

Moreover, foodpanda Taiwan also responded to the evolving work patterns by introducing the "Participatory Flexible Working Policy." During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company maintained an office-based work environment with protective measures to ensure uninterrupted service to its vendors, riders, and customers. The policy, which was designed to balance flexibility with business needs, permits flexible working arrangements. These include up to 20% remote work, provided that business targets and metrics are met and that flexibility does not hinder business growth or efficiency.

The company regularly monitors business performance, conducting quarterly surveys to assess management satisfaction with its flexible working policies.

The positive feedback on this initiative is reflected in its management satisfaction survey score that exceeded 80 and a 12-point increase in employee NPS related to autonomy. Furthermore, the participatory flexible working policy has become one of the company’s most valued and appreciated initiatives.

Through these comprehensive efforts, foodpanda Taiwan empowers its employees to thrive both personally and professionally.
