Wong is new CEO for UOB Malaysia

Wong Kim Choong has been appointed as United Overseas Bank Malaysia's chief executive officer with immediate effect.

He succeeded Chan Kok Seong, who has moved to Singapore to take on the role of chief risk officer at UOB Group.

Wong, 55, has close to three decades of corporate and retail banking experience across the group’s regional network.

He was previously the president and chief executive officer of United Overseas Bank (Thai) Public Company Limited (UOB Thai), where he oversaw the integration of UOB Radanasin Bank and Bank of Asia to form UOB Thai.
Prior to that, Wong spent 16 years with United Overseas Bank Limited in Singapore and six years with UOB Malaysia.

Wong would focus on driving organic growth at UOB Malaysia and continue to develop the bank’s corporate, commercial, business and retail banking businesses.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, Canada.
